Today was my one year anniversary of the start of this journey. One year ago I changed my lifestyle. I had high blood pressure, high cholestrol, a 45" belly, weight of 236 pounds, and no upper body muscle. Today, my blood prssure is in check, cholestrol is better (still needs a little improvement), lost 4" around the belly, down 24 lbs. to 212. And a week ago I tried on a suit jacket I haven't worn in over a year; I can finally button it, but now will not fit in sholders and chest thanks to the increased muscle.
A week ago at the gym while I was lifting, I felt a pop in my arm. A detached bicep; looks like an odd bulge on my arm now. It will be another six weeks before I have insurance for a doctor visit. There isn't much pain, but I can not lift much more then a coffee cup. It is going to be a long time before I will be able to lift again. I have gained too much the past year to let it slip away. I will need to work harder on my cardio during this time.
With Christmas over, things will start to get back to normal. I don't think normal will exist for the next year though. Our daughter will be going back to OSU tonight; this is the last Christmas she will be with us. She is graduating from Ohio State in June and getting married in July. She will be living four hours away. Our son will graduate in May and will be heading off to college in August. My wife and I will be moving this spring closer to my job (currently 1 hour 10 min. away). We will be experiencing the empty nest soon. We will also be leaving all the friends we have around here. We have always been a close family, and this will be both difficult and exciting for all of us.
